June is when Porto's rain gives way almost entirely, and travellers who packed for showers find they did not need to. Porto weather june brings highs in the low twenties, 274 hours of sunshine and a tenth of December's rain. It is the first of the months to plan outdoors with confidence. Rain averages 39.9 mm, the third lowest of the year, and nights at 14.5 °C are mild enough to spend the evening by the river in a light layer.
Two full days in the Douro Valley, the season's easiest day trip.

The dry season begins
Average highs reach 23.5 °C (74.3 °F) and lows 14.5 °C (58.1 °F). Rain drops to 39.9 mm (1.6 in), less than half of May's 89.6 mm (3.5 in), and only July and August are drier.
That makes June an easy month for the river, viewpoints and a full day in the Douro Valley. The sun is strong on long walks between the river and the upper town, so water and a hat matter more than a raincoat. IPMA still publishes the forecast worth checking for the odd wet day.
June marks the point where Porto's weather turns from changeable to settled. Rain falls to less than half of May's total, sunshine rises to 274 hours, and the daytime high of 23.5 °C makes the whole day comfortable for walking. Nights at 14.5 °C are mild, so an evening by the river needs only a light layer.
The month sits just below July and August on temperature, which makes it a comfortable time for long days on foot.
June starts the dry season, with rain less than half of May's.Planning the days
With dry weather likely, book the outings that depend on it: a valley day with a boat, a river cruise at the end of the afternoon, time on the terraces in Gaia. Evenings stay mild at around 14.5 °C.
July is warmer still at 25.3 °C (77.5 °F) and drier at 20.4 mm (0.8 in). See May, July and every month on the Porto weather page.
A June plan can treat good weather as the default. The Douro Valley, a river cruise, the viewpoints on both banks and long walks all fit, and indoor visits become a choice rather than a fallback. The main thing to plan around is the sun: long climbs between the river and the upper town are easier in the morning and late afternoon.
For clothes, pack light and breathable layers, sun protection and comfortable shoes, plus one warmer layer for the evenings. A light waterproof can stay at the bottom of the bag. Compared with July, June is a little cooler and a little wetter, which some travellers find easier for walking.
