The garden is what people talk about most, followed by the sense of space and quiet. This is for travellers who want a slower heritage experience, not a city-centre attraction. The museum and its garden give you time to look at a calm pace.
Go on a weekday. Opening hours run Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM and 2:30 to 5:30 PM, with Saturday and Sunday closed. A morning or mid-afternoon arrival works around the lunchtime shutdown. The Jardim Botânico do Porto and the Museu de História Natural e da Ciência da U.Porto are about 240 metres away, and Galeria da Biodiversidade and the Jewish Museum of Oporto are within walking distance, so you can continue with more gardens and museums nearby.
